Google Chrome 119.0.6045.160 Installs New Security Fixes for Android

The latest update to Google Chrome, version 119.0.6045.160, has brought a slew of new security fixes to the popular web browser for Android devices. These updates aim to address various vulnerabilities that could have put users' data at risk.

According to the Chrome Security Page, several low-severity issues were addressed in this update. These include Incorrect security UI in Picture In Picture (CVE-2023-5859), Inappropriate implementation in WebApp Provider (CVE-2023-5858), and a few others. Additionally, medium-severity issues such as Use after free in Side Panel (CVE-2023-5856), Use after free in Reading Mode (CVE-2023-5855), and several instances of Incorrect security UI and Inappropriate implementation in Downloads were also patched.

The most significant updates, however, are the high-severity fixes. These include an Integer overflow in USB (CVE-2023-5849) and Insufficient data validation in USB (CVE-2023-5482). These issues could have allowed attackers to exploit vulnerabilities in the browser's USB implementation.

It's worth noting that two additional high-severity issues were addressed in this update. The first is an Inappropriate implementation in Payments (CVE-2023-5480), which could have enabled malicious actors to manipulate payment transactions. The second is a Use after free in Printing (CVE-2023-5852), which could have allowed attackers to access sensitive data.

Google would like to extend its gratitude to Dohyun Lee of SSD-Disclosure Labs & DNSLab, Korea Univ for reporting several of these issues. Additionally, Vsevolod Kokorin (Slonser) of Solidlab is credited with discovering the high-severity Integer overflow in USB and Insufficient data validation in USB vulnerabilities.
